I'm looking for JJacobs... I have AMC V-8 XJ questions

Thanks, it turned out decent, I remember it going easier than planned. Weld, hammer, weld, hammer. The heat seemed to help it go into shape a lot better. If I was going to do it again I'd probably not get hung up on the factory flimsy crap and hang a bunch of tube instead. Maybe even use motor...

I'm looking for JJacobs... I have AMC V-8 XJ questions

Hey guys. Got pinged by Jeff about some oversized motor shenanigans. It was a brute force and dumb luck kind of install. I put a longblock where it looked 'right' then when it was time to dress the thing the power steering pulley cleared the stock fan by 1/2 inch and the ps reservoir cleared the...

    OY- wreck advice

I don't know, she went off in an ambulance before I could find out. The CSP has all that info, will call the officer on Monday. Most everything is easy enough to put back to stock except for the built engine. That's gonna suck, I think.

    OY- wreck advice

So, I got in a nasty multi-car pileup recently. My car was hit from behind, likely hard enough to total it. The tow yard has it until Monday, I will be picking it up and towing it to my employer's shop to avoid further storage fees. I have full coverage on it, but I was not cited and the car...

3.5" lift... what all does it affect.

I don't know about driveway alignments, a good alignment machine will allow you to set toe to the hundredths of an inch. No way, no how are you going to duplicate that with a tape measure. Trail rig? Crappy old tires? Knock yourself out. Want the tires to last, pay for a real alignment.

    Starter issue

Just thought of another, easier test to do first. Disconnect the crank sensor so it won't fire and crank it over for 10 seconds. Cables hot? Replace.

    Starter issue

Sure, you're saying it cranks slow so you have to wonder about the power supply. Starters pull a lot of amperage so subpar cables will cause your exact problem. Know how to do a voltage drop? If not, here: use a multimeter, set to V DC. Put the leads on opposite ends of the same cable, IE...

    Starter issue

Voltage drop test the cables, refresh grounds, replace cables as needed.
