For Sale- 97 XJ on 36's and 1/2 ton axles

It's a sad day when you put your jeep up for sale. Hopefully in the future I can get another one. Right now time, money, and family are keeping me from wheeling this so it's time to pass it on. I'm asking $5000. It's located in Binghamton, NY and not currently on the road. I can borrow a...

4.0 L Jeep Country wont start

Could still be the CPS. I only had trouble with mine when the engine was hot. It would start and run if I let it cool down.

    Winch bumper design

I used these plans and they are slightly off but it's a nice starting point. Cut the shape out of the paper, put it up against the frame and rub over the holes with a pencil. That will give you exact hole locations.

    OBA SCUBA?

I'm a diver who uses a 63 ft3 tank for onboard air. If I remember correctly, I can fill four 34's from 12 to 30 psi 3 times. I use a standard scuba regulator to take it from 3000 psi to about 145 and have an adapter to convert to a standard female air chuck. DOT regs require hydrostatic...

what is everyone running for rear bumps?

If you have a press you can put a bend in the metal at the front and rear of the plate to add strength. It will look like a really wide stock plate.

    97 4.0 stalls while driving

If it is a CPS problem, it may only be a problem after the engine/sensor warms up. That's when my problems occurred. It would stall on the highway and not start again until it cooled down. Whatever the problem, good luck finding it! It sounds like you've put a lot of time and energy into it...

    97 4.0 stalls while driving

How new is the crank position sensor? My 97 has 141k and is on it's 4th sensor. I had one last only 6 months. I've heard the factory had problems from the beginning. Mine was changed first under warranty at 17k. Jim C

Electrical - Delayed Accessories shut off

There is stuff out there. I drive an emergency vehicle that has a bunch of radios in it. There is a small box under the Hood that's set to keep the radios on about 10 min after the key is shut off.

    Ratcheting from rear axle

I assume the Teraflex brakes have an internal drum for the ebrake. Are the shoe retaining springs rubbing on something? I have explorer discs on my 9" axle and had a problem where the back of the wheel lugs would rub on the brake shoe retaining springs. It would make strange sounds at low...

    Ford 9" Disk Brakes

I used 8.8 disks from a 98 Explorer. I had to redrill the backing plate holes, drill 5 x 5 1/2 holes in the rotor, and ream the center of the rotor to fit over the center of the axleshafts. It was pretty easy. If I didn't need it to pass inspection I probably would have made something using...

    anyone running 36's in xj?

I'm using bumpstops about 1" longer than stock, then made new leaf spring plates that extend a few inches toward the center of the axle so the bumpstop hits that when the axle articulates. -Jim C

    anyone running 36's in xj?

In 4 pages, I think I'm the 2nd person to actually address your question. I have 36" TSL's on a full width D44 and 9". I'm running about 5-6" of lift. I have almost no rubbing with less trimming than most. I've left the area on the fenders that comes out from the body (like mini fender...
