    Swapping Tcases

Input length is also a variable, tried using a 91(?) tcase on the 95 also. The input sleeve was bottoming out. Removed guts from both tcases & installed 95 planetaries/inputshaft & bearing into 91(?) case. tcase works fine now on 95. snap rings are a beeotch.

    Swapping Tcases

I did search & there are many threads with conflicting info, so here is my question: Buddy has a 1996 4.0L auto with a 231, needs a transfer case. All we can find locally is an 89 4.0L peugot tranny 231. Info here points toward this NOT swapping, without swpping input shafts, and even then it...

    90 XJ Engine swap HELP

Mine had the headgasket going bad & I was offered the other complete (wrecked) XJ for $225. Seemed like a logical choice.

    Hydrolocked

I would have changed it at that time, but there is no parts store within an hour of where we were wheeling that day & we had hoped to continue wheeling it after the oil change, instead we just loaded it onto the trailer. Have not had more time yet to change the oil and fitler yet since then...

    90 XJ Engine swap HELP

Understandable, but if it is any consolation, this was my first motor swap ever & everything went smoothly, but I did have both entire Jeeps sitting there for parts. Good luck on whichever your decision is. I know the new HO motor definitely had more pep than the Renix 4L did, but 150k is a big...

S-10 Blazer tire carrier tube doors

First off, these look good & are a nice idea. Here's what I did; go to HF & get a bender on sale for $70 (less than the price of two tire carriers @ the bone yard), get two gate latches & lowes, & get some cheap tube steel at wherever's cheap & close to you. If you have a buddy with an XJ, go in...

Did you also swap linkage when you swapped TC's? The linkage is not interchangeable between the two.

    90 XJ Engine swap HELP

That was me a few years back, they make a HO-Renix adapter; should be somewhere linked on that page, but I just made the DIY version, still may have it sitting around if a picture would help. Jeep ran fine that way for over a year, then I got a GOOD body & took hat motor back out & put it in the...

    Hydrolocked

10psi? Oreillys "House Brand" filter, cant recall brand 10w30 no-name brand Jeep always ran consistently around 50-75 psi before, ran fine on startup & slowly dropped down to 10, still oil on rockers but not squirting like it should be.

    Hydrolocked

We went wheeling on Saturday & my wife hydrolocked her 87 XJ. We pulled the plugs & shot the water out, then found the rotor was broken (fixed it with superglue, lol). We started it & let it run for about 5 minutes, ran fine, then it started losing oil pressure. Checked the oil & it was a...

Rear Main Seal...I Hope I`m Right..

I have an 85 4cyl with an auto tranny, I assume that I have to pull the tranny to do the rear main. :( I will also doublecheck the oil filter for leaks before starting anything. The 4.0L 2-piece seal is nice & easy to change on a lifted XJ, sucks that it won't be so easy on the 4cyl.

    Alternator(s) not charging

We had the last two alternators tested at autozone (before and after installation) and both read fine, so they are not the problem. The battery cables should be fine since pulling them kills the engine I would assume that they are both good since the jeep starts fine everytime & does not die...

    What TC in 86?

I was thinking mine had a 208, but it must be the 229, as it does not have a disco axle. Anyways, I thought my rear cone had a leak and removed it & re-sealed it but it still leaked & upon further investigation there is a hole on top of the transfercase (no not the vent line in the tailcone)...
