You are correct sir. the 4500 and 5500 do have urea injection but the 3500 and below do not. i think it has something to do with being california low emissions idle certification thingy.

honestly sounds to me like the complete engine wasnt built correctly. possible ring issues causing the oil loss mystery/soot in collector. possible head issues for overheating or a partial blockage in a cooling passage way in the block.

im with the oil pressure sender theory. another possible ive seen is a bad o2 sensor (i believe there is only one on that car). if shorted it will cause it to run poorly or die when the vehicle warms up enough to go to closed loop
