Haha.... yes sir. And I appreciate all you guys feedback, advice, and words of wisdom. We've all done "stupid" stuff. But I wanted to ask in an effort to gauge if this was too stupid. General concensus is don't do it. Which my gut agrees with. One state over...maybe. but not worth risking it...
8.8 adds discs to the rear. All brakes are brand new with less than 12 miles on em. And the booster is a swapped in grand cherokee version. Not sure if that added anything but this xj will stop...fast. :)
I hate to admit I haven't gotten far into ham outside it being a curiosity to me. Plus I like the idea of it being one means of viable comms should bad things happen. I've only just recently been looking at different units and been picking folks brains. In the next year, after I'm well into...
Yeah, that's our 4th option. We have a suburban which we were hoping to sell before the move. May have to just keep it and tow with it and ask another buddy to lend some time.
I suppose? I found this:
http://www.carmax.com/enus/specifications-equipment/2001-jeep-cherokee-623.html
Which shows towing capacity is 2000/5000. I wonder if that is tongue weight/max tow weight?
Properly loaded and with the airbags set I'm not worried about the tongue so much as dragging a...
Holy cow!
I scored most of this mast system from the dumpster in germany.

Now you're making me want to find a way to adapt it to the jeep. :)
Help...
We're trying to figure the logistics of moving all our junk from N. Va to Colorado. Will have a huge moving truck with a car trailer but have 3 vehicles to move.
Wife's VW jetta wagon. My 83 scrambler on 35s. And my 01 xj.
The xj has a brand new...well, everything. Motor just finished...
Good luck. My 01 went hot once. Determined it was the 0331 head crack debacle. Filled it and kept driving carefully for about a month until it finally went Tango-Uniform.
Head crack,yup.
Block cracked too...yup. :o
Normally I agree but it was so bad the mounting brackets were a half a hole off. Add to that the fact this is my "nice" jeep and it looked worse than bad. Seriously. I can only have my work looked at as a hack job so much. Haha.
I'm almost done fixing it anyway.
Made my new bumper sad. Guess I welded to much/fast last night and it developed a significant frown. Spent today trying a bunch of ways to get it straight again. Finally used a bunch of relief cuts welded shut with the Miller set to "kill". Looked like it worked perfect... at first. Now the...
More back bumper progress... I hate fabricating quickly. Facing a move in >month I'm under the gun to get this thing wrapped up and tagged/inspected before going on the trailer. I am trying to finish as much as possible because it may be 6 months to a year before I get set up to tinker again.
