Alternatives to starter kill for aftermarket alarm

Ha good to know US isn't the only place that guns exist. Yeah my system does have a 'shock' sensor. That said I need to find out if it will trip if jacked up. Anyway on the fuel shutoff - all good, I intercepted the brown lead with the NC alarm relay contacts from the fuel pump relay coil off...

Alternatives to starter kill for aftermarket alarm

Anything to slow the thief down improves your chances of deterrence. I was looking into the auto shutdown relay but there's no real theory of operation on this in the FSM. I'll go back thru the schematics but it didn't look like it could be easily done from the Junct block. I prefer not...

Alternatives to starter kill for aftermarket alarm

Maybe I'm out on a limb a bit as not seeing old posts for alarms but anyway, finishing up wiring in the control on my 98 4.0, and I prefer to steer clear of a starter kill as hot wiring the starter is cake on these. I've made all the other connections at or near the junct block and the system...

    Aftermarket alarm door lock wiring?

Actually less, way less. No relay needed. See FSM page 8W-61-2 Using negative output lock, unlock pulses from alarm and tapping into OR/VT p35, PK/VT p36 wires from the pass pwr lock/window which can be found on near the upper right side of the Junct block (where harness passes from door to...

    Aftermarket alarm door lock wiring?

Just throwing a line out on best way to tie in a negative pulse lock/unlock signal (500ma) from a new alarm system. 98 XJ, Factory - PL, remote keyless entry, overhead console. No factory alarm. I'm trying to make connections at the junction block where it appears I would need to add relays and...

98 trans slips in drive not in 1st gear

We're done here. The solenoid codes purged out after O'rielly connected the scan tool and refreshed. Time to start the fun, driving and upgrading.

98 trans slips in drive not in 1st gear

Saying goodbye to my non-paying part time job!!! Trans is working fine now. Solenoids did it. For whatever reason the check engine light remains on. it should have cleared after several local trips. Codes did clear for a bit during the intermittent stage of the issue so maybe it's different...

98 trans slips in drive not in 1st gear

Sorry for the lapse, only so much time for my non-paying part time job here, ha. BUT BAD SOLENOIDS! yes more than one. I started out going for the grounds, the G101 for the TCM (black w/tan) lands at a one of a pair of grounds off the block behind the alt. and were questionable but did zilch. On...

98 cherokee shift solenoid b issue

D-tomb, (is where I'm heading iffn I dont get this issue wrestled to the ground), seriously same issue basically, wondering if you ever got to the root of the problem. I did not see this thread and started a fresh one this spring. I may be close to solution but hope you found the magic fix. thanx!

98 trans slips in drive not in 1st gear

I'll put eyes on that spot again tho I recall cleaning up these grounds wherever I came on them. I'll get into it this w/e and hope to find something real :wave1:

98 trans slips in drive not in 1st gear

Good to know. I had a pair of DVMs hooked up to the A and B solenoid TCM terminals to gather a pass fail, cold warm scenario. I'm getting no consistent correlation between anything. Found 26 ohm resistance to ground at the TCM solenoid ground pin 24. I jumped it to chassis ground and my weak 12v...

98 trans slips in drive not in 1st gear

Agree and no lines pinched but should verify flow thru the radiator. I think this problem is on the run. Just road tested after attempt at clearing the computer and its consistently an issue after about 5-7 minutes run time. Cold its ok. I'm going to have to recheck all signals from speed...

98 trans slips in drive not in 1st gear

Finally arrived yesterday and BUMMER, other than rule out the TCM, it did nothing to fix the issue! I'm almost spent here on what is the root problem. With the wrong signals out the TCM box feeding the solenoid harness, those 2 components are also no longer suspect.

Ebay TCM on order, will post outcome.

98 trans slips in drive not in 1st gear

Lawson, I wanted to post a photo of the FSM page, but file attachments not allowed, not sure why that is?? I assume you know what it reads anyway. Your solenoid list makes sense so I checked solenoid 2 and it's energized in all 7 gear ranges! I'm pretty sure OD was working so that part confuses...
