I used to throw my 31 inside and aired it down a bit to get the hatch and rear seat to fit. For the mounting I replaced the OEM stuff with a bent 3/8" threaded eye bolt. I just got rid of it for a JCR tire carrier.

I've been wanting to replace my 98 xj seats as well. JK seats are all over the place. Id' love more info and appreciate the info given so far. If the seats absolutely cannot me adjusted forward/back this is bad, my wife is 5'4" and she drives the jeep fairly regularly.
