I didnt even know they made 2000-2001 XJs without the precats. I feel like they're the root of my problem
I've thought about taking some 16 gauge sheet metal and making a huge heat shield that would essentially block the cats away from the engine side and intake like a giant L shape.
I...
I've thought about hood louvers but I get a fair amount of rain and snow during the year, I've heard that can be an issue.
What's interesting is my under hood temps (According to the temp gauge) never goes more than 210. My Egan turns on when necessary and turns off when satisfied. These damn...
Is there any chance you have a picture or a source for the shield material? I'd be more than happy to stuff whatevers needed under there to give it a shot at this point
My heat soak is not just when the jeep has been sitting. It has also triggered the CEL while stuck in traffic during 90° days. I dont believe this would totally solve it 😔
I'm more than willing to accept its no good. I just find it to be a terrible coincidence that I went all winter with no misfire, then warm weather comes and I get random misfire plus cylinder 3.
In any case, I thought about replacing the coil just for good measure since it's definitely...
Forgot to say.... when I bought the DEI kit from Amazon for the heat shield. It did stop the "random cylinder misfire" code. So I can't say it did nothing. Wrapping the fuel rail probably did help a lot, but not for cylinder 3
I'm sure everyone is probably tired of reading about heatsoak but I can't get my check engine light off for long enough to pass inspection
My 2001 sport had always had codes for multiple cylinder misfire + cylinder 3 misfire in the summer months or after sitting for 10 mins and restarting...
Nice goin dude. I would definitely agree with mopar stuff for certain items. Electronics and sensors aren't good with the aftermarket brands. Which is what lead me to attempt to repair the stock ones first before buying
Anyway... glad we got our windows/locks working again
Side note: kind of...
Sorry I misspoke, my friend did not buy those headers, he got some ebay headers that looked like the pacesetter ones and the page said they were only meant to fit an XJ but they bolted up directly to his 03 TJ
I just posted the first one I found, definitely didnt shop around for the cheapest one
And I will absolutely confirm that 4.0 headers work for other Jeeps. The problem with SOME headers is they have weird bends and it hits the older intake manifolds. The newer rounded intake doesnt make contact...
If you have a 00-01 without Cali emissions you could use this set up

I'd start with the flex plate yes, you could also check the exhaust manifold and gasket. When my gasket blew out at the bottom I had a knock that sounded just like a rod knocking, just quieter.
Its extremely strange to do suspension work and have a motor issue right after so I'd be triple...
Every 2000-2001 cherokee I've seen has 2 pre-cats and one downstream cat
So the header for the earlier ones are for the models that only have one downstream cat and up by the manifold it's just straight pipes coming from the flange
If you have an 00-01 cherokee that has the 2 pre-cats you'll...
So here's the update from the start of my post
I did end up finding 2 more wires in the drivers door jamb that had separated. Fixed them and it didnt change anything
Next I took off the drivers side switch panel and went to work re flowing the solder on the connections. I found 3 questionable...
