The drop kit I have does not drop hang down more than stock. And the front shaft angles did not change.
I did miss the temp fix part.
I just removed a yoke that someone had done that to. It was toast. Granted, it may have been done wrong, but it vibed like hell and ate u-joints for breakfast...
You can not really be serious?!?!?!? That is the worst thing to do to a drive shaft and u-joint. Now all you are doing with this idea is letting the u-joint go further than it should be causing undo wear and tear on them. Spend the little bit of money and get a drop bracket and some new u-joints...
I would think that you could use a tire plug kit and some leather needles and some strong line of some sort to sew it up and then patch the inside and make it a spare as stated earlier.

Is it a Sport or Saharra? What axles does it have? Like IslanderXJ said more than likely it is 3.07. But there is a quick way to check. Go to the rear diff cover, there should be an ID tag bolted to the diff cover usually on the left side. It will have some numbers on there. It should say...
I am not sure how much this will help since it was on a TJ, but, I put mine at 19*. I have a six inch lift on it and it worked out perfectly. Like was said by stumpalump, the best way is the 2X4 way. Good luck. You will not regret having done this!!!
