Swapping '87 Waggie doors with '91 Cherokee?

Anything I should look for while doing this? I checked the wiring harness in both doors and there appears to be the same amount and colour scheme between the 2. They are both power window/door locks, so I should be able to cut and splice the wires together right? The Waggie has 3 plug sets...

New/Old Waggy lights on my 96

Just finished this swap on my '87 Waggie. I have a '91 Cherokee that went down, so I am building the Waggie from it's parts. The front clip just unbolted front the body and went on the just the same. The wiring harness is the same from the vehicle side. The clip side is where it changes to...

New/Old Waggy lights on my 96

Can you put a Cherokee front clip on a Wagoneer? I have the Cherokee but want to swap the clip onto a running Waggie. Hoddie.

    Teeth sheared off distributor shaft?

Okay, I have gone through all this issues to deal with why my '91 XJ won't start. I have replaced all the starter and ignition systems, the fuel sysetm works, new distributor, cap, rotor and plugs. Still nothing. I have chased my sensors and they all have the proper ohms, volts and/or...

New timing chain set, but rotor won't turn when crank does.

Still won't start. Gonna' try the crank postion sensor next.

Tilt steering wheel loose at column center

I had to do the same for my '91. When I got it apart, the bottom nut (reverse #8 Torx) with just sitting in the bottom of the housing. IT had come completly out of the hole. I would assume this is from allowing the tilt mech to slam the wheel to an upright position. I too used the above link...

New timing chain set, but rotor won't turn when crank does.

Checked it all out today and still no go. I pulled the dist and the #1 plug. Rotated the crank until I felt pressure in the plug hole. Then I lined up the dist and droped it in. The rotor would not turn to the mark I made for #1 on the body. The 0 mark on the dampner is set to the mark on...

New timing chain set, but rotor won't turn when crank does.

Sorry about that. I will be checking the dist tomorow. I don't mean to get you mad, you have been the best source of info yet. Don't leave me now! Hoddie.

New timing chain set, but rotor won't turn when crank does.

OKay, this could be the answer to the problem. I know I turned the dampner to the 0 mark and droped inthe distributor. The rotor is at #1 when I put it at 0 mark. But I will confirm that it is at TDC compression just to be sure. If it was 180 degs out, would it cause a string smell of gas...

New timing chain set, but rotor won't turn when crank does.

Help: '91 turns over but won't start Changed the title to better describe what my problem is now since I already fixed the "timing chain issue". Anyway, So the smoke was from the starter? Is that a good thing? The neg batt cable was warm to the touch too. I did check the pressure at the...

New timing chain set, but rotor won't turn when crank does.

Alright, checked the dist again and it is lined up right. Timing mark on dampner and #1 plug in dist line up. So gears are lined up. Now, I have replaced the cap and rotor. Last thing I checked was the coil output. Nothing at the business end. Voltage going in, none coming out. I put a...

New timing chain set, but rotor won't turn when crank does.

Okay I have a new battery (old one was covered by warranty). I hooked it all up again, now it turns over but still won't start. I checked it all out again. I have fuel at the rail and I know I have a good battery. So, I checked for spark. Nothing at the plugs, which are all new as well...

New timing chain set, but rotor won't turn when crank does.

Okay, so here is what I have now. Pulled the valve cover off, I had to clean it out anyway, and checked the valve train. As I turned the crankshaft bolt the rockers went up and down. I made sure all the cylinders did. So no damage to the camshaft. Next thing to check was the distributor. I...

New timing chain set, but rotor won't turn when crank does.

I can manually turn the engine with a socket, but I don't get any power up like you would if you turn the key to run. I do have a charged battery.

New timing chain set, but rotor won't turn when crank does.

"The rotor is a mechanical piece, it should turn regardless of the CPS. The CPS only sends spark through the rotor." That is what I thought as well. I will pull the distributer out and check it. No major oil issues, except for the huge amount of blowby. Would this cause a situation like this...
