Best pads and rotors for d30 and ZJ rear disc conversion

The best quality performance pads are the "Hawk" brand, have them on my XJ and have used them on my race cars for many years Circle Track and Drag Race.

WTB ZJ rear brakes and 8.25 locker

I have a full kit with a lot of new parts included to swap from a drum to a disc brake setup on an XJ. I won this kit in a raffle I bought into last year after I had bought a set. This includes everything needed to do the swap from a person who sells these kits, but this different as it had...

    locker advice

I would advise a full case locker also the strongest of the lot. I run them in both a D30/Chy 8.25 Detroit Lockers, another advantage for them over the lunchbox's are they are quiet with 33's and 35" tires.

    Replace drag link??? Or not??

Unless your running big tires over 35's or HD off road use a mid 90's V-8 Grand Cherokee Tie Rod setup (direct bolt-in) is very HD unit itself solid steel and large ends to boot, best of all < $100 at AutoZone for there top brand (Moog) is what they are. I run them on my off road only XJ...

Come Alongs/Cable Pullers for Emergency Use

I have a winch but my Hi-Lift Jack is one of those things I never leave home without. I still have had to use it with my winch to get me out of a few spots when I had to move both ends at once. Many yrs ago I had to use one as an extraction tool after a roll over accident in the mountains to...

Anyone Ever Rent an Enclosed Trailer?

I think old man is correct on the width as for length I know I rented a U-Haul that was a 16' one time but that was a long while since then. Remember you have to have enough room to get out of the car even if you plan on using the window. Your truck should pull it ok as long as you don't have a...

    8.25 Regear Question

The 4x4 Jeep shop I use doesn't care if you supply the parts of they do as long as they OK them before install, as any decent shop should. I used Motive Gears and Master install kits from Rustys Off Road good prices for the D30/Chy 8.25. The shop told me the install kits were top notch also when...

    Best U-joint w/ zerks?

Use the Spicer and don't worry about a zerk all they do is weaken the joint. I would never use a greaseable joint on any 4x4 or racecar that I own and I have racing for a very long time over 40 yrs. The 760 Spicer joint could outlast your XJ possibly.

Working to part out a few Jeeps

I need an Under Hood Light complete for my 99 XJ. it came with nothing when I bought it. The only way I knew it had one was when I got the build sheet on it and saw it listed. So I will need all wiring, hardware, misc. parts for it if the 98 GC might work you have if you know the plug-in is...

    Advice on gears

Sounds like you may be increasing tire size like most of us have done at least once of several times, with that in mind I would suggest a 4.56 that your spot on for 33's and still good for 35's if you push it. Like they say "Its A Jeep Thing".

Too much bumper = frame cracks :(

Your mount is nothing like theirs I have one and know that it is one of the heaviest duty ones made and in fact could never bend your frame period. I have even pulled a trailer with my built-in receiver hitch before weighing well over a 1 1/2 tons. Here is a photo of mine, sorry don't have one...

    Bottom end freshen up

Its usually never a good idea to just freshen up the bottom end or for that matter the top either because once done it doesn't take much time for the other end to start giving you troubles. Any weak/worn or marginal parts or machine work show up quickly, so might as well do a complete overhaul...
