    I'm not sure about them bein interchangeable. Mine is a 98 and is motor driven not cable. The 98 has the dial u turn, not the slider for heat control.

    Check http://www.heatertreater.net/magento/index.php/jeep/cherokee/jeep-cherokee-97-06.html U can access the door from under the glove box (with some cutting) you could get a factory replacement door or get the heater treater one. Once u cut the hole u can see what's happening with ur door...

    Almost positive it's ur blend door. http://www.heatertreater.net/magento/index.php/jeep/cherokee/jeep-cherokee-97-06.html I just did mine, the old one turned fine with the dial but wasn't sealing properly. Fixed now and I have heat again.

    Interior heat may be blend door/motor issues.
