    Lug Nut Covers

Thanks for the info everyone. I took the tire to Les Schwab and they fixed the flat for free. They also sold me some one piece, chrome, lug nuts for $1 something each so that worked out well. (They require the 13/16" socket.)

    Lug Nut Covers

Thank, ChiXJeff. I'm still curious about the other question of whether the covers are supposed to be removed before removing the nut itself. Also, is the chrome you mention in order to prevent rust?

    Lug Nut Covers

I went to remove a tire with a nail in it today and couldn't get the socket over one of the lug nuts. After "forcing" it on, I removed the nut only to find some sort of cover stuck in my socket! Go ahead and call me a lug nut but I wasn't aware I was removing both a nut and a cover. 1.)...

I think you can tell from the VIN. Try entering your VIN here: http://jeep.avtograd.ru/VIN/vin_en.asp

    Headlight Still on.

The FSM for a 1990 shows a "daytime running lamp module" that is on the right side fender well. I've never seen my lights come on in the daytime so this might not be in every vehicle. (Or I'm misunderstanding what the name means.) I guess if you could find it and unplug it, it might help you...

    Can stealership charge above MSRP?

I understand that they have overhead yet I've never purchased anything at any other business OVER a posted MSRP. I just wondered if this was common or if I was being scammed by some local employees. Based on the replies, it sounds like it is a common occurence.

    Can stealership charge above MSRP?

My local Jeep dealership here in Monroe, WA always charges above MSRP for parts. Can they just make up prices and is this common? Are they trying to discourage inividuals walking in for parts? Usually, I'll buy from the junkyard or online but once in awhile will get a part locally. I will...

    Help with harmonic balancer

I haven't actually removed the old one yet but in looking at the picture of the crankshaft end, it almost looks like someone put one in backwards at an earlier time. (It's hard to tell with all the grease, though.) I'm also fairly certain I didn't create the knicks as I was very careful about...

    Help with harmonic balancer

As stated before, I'm a mechanical imbecile but progressing thanks to this forum and a relative's help. Here are pictures of the front crankshaft seal I purchased from the dealer today. 1.) Does this look like the right part? 2.) Which end would I view after it has been installed? Or...

    Help with harmonic balancer

Oops. A little further down in the document they show a diagram of the timing cover and I believe the seal is shown there. It lists part number 33004681.

    Help with harmonic balancer

I'm looking at the parts catalog for my 1990. In the exploded view labeled "Crankshaft and Piston 4.0L Engine" I don't see a seal listed. It shows the damper pulley with the bolt and washer and then it shows an oil slinger and crankshaft sprocket. Is the oil slinger the same thing as the seal?

    Help with harmonic balancer

I joined today so I can post pictures. I've received a lot of great help on this forum and really appreciate it. I've been working on replacing the radiator, water pump, harmonic balancer and alternator. I have the water pump and alternator installed and am working on the HB. I finally got...
