There is definitely no refrigerant in my system, since most of the system is missing and I know my E-fan works. I didn't take it out much this winter though, I'll have to pay more attention and see if the E-fan comes on when it is in defrost or just when it's blowing cool air.

So let’s say I remove the A/C but leave the pump so that I can use it for OBA at a later date. If I use the Defrost what happens?

If you have the skills to shoe horn a York compressor into a XJs engine bay replacing the transmission mounts should be a snap.

The other thing to check would be is your electric fan turning on?

It depends on how much you cut your fenders. 33s are going to be tight with just a 3 inch lift, but doable if you cut enough.

How are you going to use the axle? I wouldn't mind running a welded dif or a spool on a trail rig, but wouldn't do it for a daily driver.

I replaced mine with M.O.R.E. mounts about a year ago on my 96. I just put an engine lift on it to take the weight off the mounts pulled one side and then the other, didn’t have to remove anything other than the mounts. The whole job took 2-3 hours from start to finish.

Diesel was $3.10 the other day when I filled up, I actually filled up the Dodge for under $100! Not sure what it is right now as a 34 gallon tank lasts awhile unless I'm towing.
