    CB Radio mounting...

I'm still waiting for that fine irony to hit a certain poster :flame:

    CB Radio mounting...

There are places I wheel where there is no cell phone reception, but a CB will work. Both my Jeeps now have them, and wheelin' buddies also got them. I will certainly enjoy not being muted by lack of signal. =) Ta. hastas

    CB Radio mounting...

Installed a CB this past week. Selected a base Uniden model, small and inexpensive. Didn't want to drill and cut into trim, and wanted to be able to remove the radio and its wiring. Tricky, but found out the connectors for the cig lighter/power outlet haven't changed, so the Wrangler JK adapter...

WHAT, you didn't even TASTE the leaked fluid?!!?

Horn stuck, dome light on, battery drain

Whoo-eeeee, it's been a minute. Issue was fixed a while ago. Just documenting. Horn switch. Dumb lil' horn switch shorted, fried the horns (ever seen molten copper? it's PURDY) and created an intermittent short that eventually drained and flatlined an AGM battery. The confusing part was...

Horn stuck, dome light on, battery drain

Update. Replaced clock spring. Inspected horn switch, with voltmeter. Checked all contacts, old and new; the old clock spring had a few numbers kinda meh, but the contacts on the harness looked clean and corrosion free. As soon as I plug the relay onto its slot, it clicks. There is a tiny...

Horn stuck, dome light on, battery drain

I was afraid of that. Blagh. It's annoying to pull the stupid steering wheel. Sigh. Now to find part locally, or wait for it to arrive. The good news is, battery charges, to spec. Vehicle starts smooth, idle holds perfectly, once charged. Besides that parasitic drain short, everything else...

Horn stuck, dome light on, battery drain

Bummer. However, my chief concern is to not go, replace the battery, then have new one drained within the week, rinse repeat. Should I assume the horn switch is borked, or could the horns themselves have gone... horn switch is in the steering column, is that right?

Horn stuck, dome light on, battery drain

Huh. Have similar issue, but different circumstances. - Horn goes off, constantly, for couple of minutes. Jump outta my skin, go to Jeep, disconnected horns. Disconnect battery. Checked fuse and relay. Fuse #21 on fuse joint block, 15A is blown, 30A relay seems ok, no clicking, but shows...

    The Quick Disconnect WTF Thread

Ok. Why? No, seriously, curious. Just because never seen or done before, or... [insert your reasoning here] Remember, no qualifiers makeany statement a I-think-ism, presented without any basis for it beyond "I think". Which lands it solid under scientific principle that you can promptly dismiss...

Converting stock 2wd to stock 4wd

A few YEARS late, but brief report... Lift was finished couple weeks after last post. Since then, have done a bit to it, but the lift itself hasn't changed. Pic above is a couple months ago, installing a matching rear bumper to the aftermarket front one, a Smittybilt XRC, with loop. Said...

Crossmember bolts broke. What to do

As it turns out, solved the issue by taking it to a shop, removing the protruding studs (stupid factory set up, anyways), and having them weld stronger (10.9) nuts to the channels, with a reinforcement inside. Added benefit: dropped my transfer case an inch or so, which was my aim with the...

    The Quick Disconnect WTF Thread

OHAI. Been a minute since I last posted here. I imagine I am not the first idi... USER... to wonder about this. Stabilizer/Sway bar QD. Was there ever a *perfect* solution? The mount fins, on stock axle, for the factory linkage are deeply uninspiring. If you don't want to simply whack them...

Crossmember bolts broke. What to do

Oh, sweet. So, basically the bolt will unscrew out and I can, then use bolts similar to the others? Whew.

Crossmember bolts broke. What to do

::dusts thread from oblivion:: '99 XJ, lifted. Inserted shims under crossmember. Just had a boo boo. Snapped one of the protruding, fixed bolts (wth). :banghead: Can they be sawn off, then tapped, to use the standard, original (or, now, bigger) bolts like the other two? How are those fixed...
