have some questions buying a xj 97+???

I do remember reading that in '99 the body was strengthened (mildly?). The rear-hatch was changed to metal, from fiber-glass, in '97. I couldn't find the jeepspeed page which had this information, and not just a copy-paste of the history that every other page has.

    need a new radiator

I purchased a 2 row radiator from radiatorbarn. It was a CSF all-brass rad. I haven't had any probs with it. I think price was less than $100.

    Ubuntu doesn't recognize

You could check and see if a newer version of the kernel has support for your modem, or mother-board. I doubt that Ubuntu has the newest kernel from kernel.org. You could also see if you could build your own kernel, because maybe the default Ubuntu kernel is compiled to work with that exact modem.

    2001 XJ P1694

I read that the connection harness for the instrument cluster can be loose, and you can tweak the metal barbs slightly and it won't happen anymore. I tend to just use the 'smack the dash' method. As an earlier poster said, it happens during irregular temperature fluctuations.

    Universal-joint strap - u-bolt replacement

So, I've ordered two different u-bolt kits for replacement of the universal-joint straps on my Chrysler8.25 and both of them have been too skinny to fit into original bolt holes. The holes are 1.59 inches center/center. I've found part numbers for what _should_ work, but I researched and found...

    Crashed XJ options

Update: So, the quick estimate on damage was $2500. It warped the roof-line past the rear-passenger door about 1/2inch. It seems like one of the passenger-side rims are still good, leaving me with 4 good rims, including the full-size spare. People are still confused that the airbags deployed...

    Crashed XJ options

well, it wasn't what i wanted to go into, but... it's a complex matter about money and liability, which the lawyers will have to argue about for... what i'm guessing will be a long time. i've got free access to the vehicle. so far, there's no insurance involved except mine. (no insurance at...

    Crashed XJ options

So, my '99 XJ Limited (stock, 74k miles, 4.0, AW4, 8.25LSD, up-country, leather, infinity sound) has been T-boned in the rear-passenger door and rear axle, destroying 2 tear-drop aluminum rims, deploying airbags and doing a healthy amount of body damage. Axle could be shot, since it was hit. It...

    97+ cherokee airbags

My '99 was just involved in an accident, so I am interested. It would cost me $1200 for airbags to be... recharged and whatever else. I'm wondering if this be cheaper for me. If you still have them for sale, I'm interested. I will call the body-shop tomorrow and see if this is a viable option. -Ben

Anyone heard of synlube? Never change your oil again?

Wouldn't airborne contaminants, coming in through the air-filter, and being too small for the oil-filter, build up over time?

    A/C too cold?

could it be a vacuum leak, sending the air through the defrost vents?
