Big Red is For Sale - Cheap

Thanks man! It's been one of those things where I know it's going to take only a day to make it run again, then a bit of parts scrounging to make it square. Add a little squirt of red paint, and it could be marvelous once again...but alas, for me, there's little time. My only desire to run the...

Big Red is For Sale - Cheap

https://youtu.be/CZw_0PA6i6c Big Red has been sitting for quite a few years. NonOp. Located in Rio Vista, CA. Give me some money for the airplane fund and take it home. In my dreams, it's still worth the $12,000 we spent making this happen. Some people say there's a woman to blame, but I...

Looking for a low mileage late model engine - complete.

Did you roll your rig? Just tired of it? My DD has a miss, and at ~300k, it will be easier to simply swap with a low mileage engine. Anyone?

Time to say goodbye to Big Red

Years ago, before the kids made their own kids, camping on the Rubicon was one of our favorite things to do...and Big Red was the tote vehicle for all the camping gear, tools, and replacement parts for the Samurais. We had a fleet of those little guys, and three of them may show-up here in the...

Looking for a donor - or needed parts.

Looking for a donor XJ or parts to change over my MJ to AX15 (has the pukegeot), so I need the shifters, brackets, center console, etc. in addition to the AX15. Wouldn't mind having a 242 in the mix, and will have a 231 available.

    Last try for parts

Another Random Misfire Thread 2001 XJ

Before you waste any more time, check the pressure in your fuel rail. (A) Should jump to around 40 psi when you turn-on the key (pump only runs for about a second, so several key on/off cycles may be required) (B) Start the engine. Should be just over 30 psi running. Should jump toward 40...

    Snakeoil for a cracked header?

Have a cracked header on a 90 ltd. it's above the crotch of the Y on the inside. I've tried several things like that toothpaste looking stuff, but it never works. Has anyone had any kind of luck with any kind of manifold patch?

    When you do the Rubicon...?

Last gas is the new station at Fresh Pond. From there, it's about 1Hr to the trail head. Ice House Cafe has the last gas, but they may not be open. You can carry five, but you won't need it. The trail is only 18 miles.

    2000 XJ AC Woes

I agree, your dealer is firetrucking you...watch out for the big hose. (firetruck is a word that starts with F and ends with UCK). Drop by the local parts store and get yourself a pair of those cheap yellow sunglasses that they sell in a kit with a so-called LED based UV light source...

    hard drive recovery?

I don't know how to explain it except in some detail - though it won't be sufficient - you will need to seek a small amount of help from your local Linux user's group. LBA means Logical Block Address. Each 512 byte chunk of data (sector) is assigned a number from zero to whatever the last...

    Terminology question

Brian, "CV Joint" is a class, not a specific instance. A Cardan joint, named for Cardano, an ancient philosopher/physician and inventor of the gimbal, is the same as what you know as a U-joint. A U-joint has a velocity profile that is eliptical (or sinusoidal) when the drive shafts are not...
