Well I'm not certain it's the age, but the 6 year old tires I took off mine chirped if you looked at them funny and my new Duratracs are nice and quiet.
If they really are 20 years old I would DEFINITELY replace all of them. I had a blowout on my old Chevy with an 8 year old tire and ripped the side if the box open. That was going about 2mph backing into a parking spot, I'd HATE to see that going down the highway. Regardless of UV exposure the...
Well yesterday I think I found the source of my Death Wobble for good... The sector shaft on my steering gear wobbles about a half inch side to side! I'll try to get the wife to help me get a video of it to share, I was pretty surprised since it's not leaking any fluid.
Pulled the gearbox from...
Oh I haven't shown the rust yet :helpme: I have some 2x4 tube to replace the rockers and I'll be plating the unibody rails as I patch up the floor pans.
The whole front clip was given to me by a friend of mine. He upgraded to a ZJ that wasn't rusted out and my XJ needed a whole front clip. He...
Well got a few things done today. Got the radiator and thermostat changed out. Added a small weep hole to the thermostat to help with air bleeding.
Then I finally installed the repainted track bar bracket and new track bar.
Then I painted the wheels. Hopefully I can get the new tires...
Funny you're the first person to say that. I'll have to fix that. Might be why nobody has commented! I'll have to find a hosting site. Used to be simple through Google but they changed their system.
In the meantime... Here's a link to all the photos of my Jeep if anyone is interested. I'll try...
Got a new radiator and a tie rod in the mail today. The radiator will have to wait until later but I got the new tie rod and steering stabilizer in. I really don't think the old stabilizer was doing... anything. That's not penetrating oil. I think that's oil from the shock.
Looks much...
Well I was hoping to get a better/cleaner bracket and can't for the life of me imagine why I never considered the parts Jeep my buddy gave me for the front end parts I needed.... Probably because it really wasn't any better!
I ended up pulling the bracket off that and managed to get it apart...
Thanks for the input guys. I do have a new stock track bar in the garage. I don't think I can get anything in there to cut with but I probably could if I remove the bracket.
It's just the two nuts on the outside and the two short bolts on the inside?
So my track bar castle nut is.... Not able to be located...
Is there any other way to get the track bar removed? I know it's tapered so I can't cut it right?
I'm assuming I'm just in for a fight but I figured I'd ask here in case. I attached a picture so you can see how rusty it is.
Money...
Oh lookie here, a couple XJ bumpers...
Yeah I know, cleaning the shop is next on the list.
They were given to me, 2x6 tube maybe 0.120 wall or better. He told me they were 4' long but they're longer which is perfect! They are almost exactly as long as I need. I've got some 3/16 plate to make...
Are there mild trails there? I don't think I'll have mine ready but who knows. She's stock right now.
That's Anthracite in Coal Township right? That's only 3 hours away from me.
Well I have been driving it a couple days now. All the cluster lights work so I'll just leave it be.
This morning on the way in to work I finally learned what "death wobble" is... Holy crap, I thought something fell off!
I'm going to start looking things over before I go home tonight, I'm...
