    Dog farts

Evidently, you guys are not the first to have this problem - someone has already invented the cure....... http://www.flat-d.com/thong.html Myself, I usually just fart back at the dog, hoping the two smells fight until they both are unnoticeable :firedevil: (keeps the Mrs. out of the garage).

which wench in the wenching best

Try Mike at Custom 4x4 fabrication in Oklahoma. He altered his standard bumper to fit the 8270 for me. Sorry, can't find any pics right now. I think he kept the plans.....

which wench in the wenching best

I got both of mine used - the first was a Warn 8270, prerunner to the 8274, needed some TLC, mostly some wires in the solenoid pak, and a bit of work on the cable (first 20' was trashed), works great with about $300 invested. My wench came to me second hand, also needed some TLC, even came...

No freewheel? Feels like it slows when pedal is lifted

Mine slows too, even faster if I'm towing an empty horse trailer. It's aerodynamic drag, and with a shape like a brick, all XJ's do this. If you worried that it might be you brakes dragging. easiest way to check is to touch the hubs after you've driven for a while (trying to use the brakes as...

96 XJ drivetrain into 87 MJ??????

Just swap the long block, reuse the MJ intake and injectors - I don't think the 96 is the same. If the tranny, x-fer case and everything else is OK on the MJ, why go to the hassle of moving them. Only difference in drive train between MJ and XJ is driveshaft length. There is more of a difference...

What are roads like in B.C. and Alaska?

Thanks for the info, folks! I think my friend is a little off, she has sold her house and is taking a year-long sabbatical to try and tour all of the national parks. Just her and her dogs. She's towing a pop-up camper with a Jeep Liberty. She wants to make Alaska in late May, no real set times...

What are roads like in B.C. and Alaska?

Have a friend heading from Kansas City (no, we don't kick tumble-weeds down the street and only the drug dealers and police carry guns) to Alaska. We have heard all kinds of rumors about the road conditions through BC and AK. What are the main highways like? Paved, smooth and ready to roll, or...

    Gaskets, 87 vs 96, what's the diff?

Need to replace the motor in my 87, have an 87 take-out with 75k miles in the garage. Both 4.0 auto motors. Wanted to replace the valve cover, rear main (and oil pan) gaskets before the swap. Checked at O'Reilly for the late rear main (used 96 for year). Seal $29, valve cover $27, oil pan $18...

Hey, old_man, any news on the MJ flares?

    Can a stock 231 t-case survive behind a 4:1 Klune V with stock AW4/4.0L in a XJ?

I won't go into specifics here, but lets look at this from another point of view - that the Klune produces 4 times the torque into the 231. Compare it to: 4 times the horsepower - would you expect the 231 to hold up to 720 HP? Don't know of anyone who would, but that is four times the input...

Spinners in the snow/ice question -

I understand that normal wheels are exposed to the same snow/slush/water, and by turning they tend to sling most of the stuff off. Occasionally you will get snow packed inside, and that can throw the balance off. The wheel is held on by 4/5/6 or more lugs, not likely to dismount from the...
