My jeep only has 100k a little less actually on it and the reverse went out. Thats why I was worried getting another used one.

Do you think it would be more reliable to buy a used AW4 tranny then rebuilding it? I thought the opposite but then again I know nothing about Jeep maintenance. I just want the most long term reliable option.

I was going to go with this kit - Super Rebuild Kit, Aw4 Automatic Transmission - but I also think it would be smart to replace the torque convertor while doing this. I think THIS is the torque convertor for a 1998 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 4wd but not 100% sure. You do not think this is a better option?

I have a 98 xj and have had over heating problems a few times. This happens on the mountains near where I live and I need to do something about it. Now this Jeep is located in Panama so its not as easy to go to the store and pick up parts like you guys do and to make matters worse I do not know...

Would THIS be the torque convertor I need for a 1998 XJ 4.0? From my research it appears to be but not 100% sure. If it is that means the parts alone for this tranny rebuild will be $500.... is that worth it? Is this the best route to go?
