    Engine problems when hot

As far as the heat soak issue goes, I'm well aware of it and the heat insulators have been installed for a long time now. I do however, intend to deal with the cats since they are believed to contribute to the issue. My problem is not just rough starting, it's poor running as well to some...

    Engine problems when hot

My 01 XJ seems to be having an issue with heat, specifically long running times (over an hour) and hot weather. Some times I notice it can be very difficult to start after sitting in the sun for multiple hours. The other problem I have (the more frequent one) is that after it has been running...

Another Stalling XJ...OBDII Gurus plz help!

Test your TPS. I had almost exactly the same symptoms when mine was bad just recently. If you replace either the CPS or TPS replace it with a mopar sensor.

    Slight and Short Knocking Sound

Just smack the cats or the pipe below them with your hand or a rubber mallet, if they're anything like mine you'll hear them rattle no problem.

    Slight and Short Knocking Sound

I'm didn't read the whole thread because its late and I'm going to bed right away but I'm still gonna throw this out there. Cali-emissions XJ? If so check the pre-cats. Had a similar sound to what you described, took a while to track it down but it just turned out to be the pre-cats rattling...

    PCM Connector Pin Removal?

Wow, thanks for all the info guys, good to know how the connector works. For 10 bucks, I'll definitely be getting that tool as well.

    PCM Connector Pin Removal?

Hey all, I've searched and searched but I can't seem to find an answer on this one. Does anyone know how the PCM pins come out of the wiring harness on an 01? Once you take the connector covers off, there is a blue tab that you have to pop in and then I'm assuming you just find the little tabs...

    Idler Pulley Adjustment

Ok thank you both. I will mess around with it this weekend and try both of those things. The washer may actually be chewed up. The first time I went to take off the belt the pulley was already loose (either from PO or bolt just backed itself off?) so it may have been spinning on an angle for...

    Idler Pulley Adjustment

I've been having a problem where my idler pulley won't sit straight (it sits on an odd angle and I believe that is what is making the chirping sound from under my hood when I give her some gas going uphill). It's a 2001 so the idler is also the belt tensioner. I believe this is where my...

    Replace Rod Bearings, or Rebuild

With a 2000 model and low oil pressure I'd be taking a look at your cylinder head which is an 0331 head. They are known for cracking in between cylinders 3 and 4 because of a casting flaw. How does your oil look? Normal, or like a milkshake? Any gunk on the fill cap? Are you losing coolant...

    AW4 Drain Plug Washer

Well that rules out the RTV then. I don't have a tap and die set and I'm not going to deal with cleaning it all out every time I change the fluid. I'll just try reusing the washer for now since it's not dripping even without it. If it starts to leak then it's a quick and easy fix anyway...

    AW4 Drain Plug Washer

Great, thanks for the suggestions guys. I've been keeping an eye on it and it doesn't seem to be dripping at all so I will just leave it til monday and do another fluid change (I only got 5 quarts done yesterday and it's pretty dirty, although I've seen worse). As for the washer I'll figure out...

    AW4 Drain Plug Washer

Sorry if this has been asked before but searching wasn't very helpful due to the fact that google has decided that gasket is a synonym for washer. :banghead: Anyway I just did a couple of drain and fills on my AW4; when I was reading how to do it I didn't see any mention of a washer and I...

    Bent axle housing/knuckle?

That was the plan, sorry if I was confusing. I was going to pick up an HP30 and check that it's straight, then build it up over the winter and swap it in when the weather is decent again. Although, it might be a better idea to swap in a 44 if I'm going to go through all the effort of building...

    Bent axle housing/knuckle?

I think I'll just leave it until I lift then Cottontail. The driver side tire isn't wearing much on the inside and it'll be fine through the winter with all the snow around here. @Talyn - That's what I thought, just wanted to confirm. Thanks. I still plan on looking for an HP30 to swap as...
