    Dang E-Brake Rod

K, thanks. I think I am going to replace it but do a pictorial write up. I have noticed a lot of the same questions.

    Dang E-Brake Rod

When you replaced the emergency brake unit, is it simply unbolting the bracket the handle is connected to from the body or does the cable underneath the car hook up to it? That is the part I am curious about. Your description of replacement would be very beneficial.

    Dang E-Brake Rod

OK, have done a bunch of searching here and on the inter webs and found nothing. If I can not figure the layout I will have to replace the entire assembly I believe? Any insights? Looks like maybe two or three bolts? Or can I just remove the handle by removing the center/pin it pivots on...

    Dang E-Brake Rod

So, on the last thing to get the 92 xj done. The dreaded e-brake button. Decided I would epoxy it since I have spent more money than I had budgeted this month. Epoxyed it back on but while the button releases the e-brake if I manually engage the pawl, it does not engage it (think the clicky...

My now servicable non-servicable hub assembly

An update. I got it out. Could not get the socket/extension positioned correctly on the C bracket. Ended up using a block of wood. That got it started and was able to tap it out after that. I was surprised how relatively small the lip was. If it would have been much more, it could have...

My now servicable non-servicable hub assembly

@Grimjeeper, apparently I am one of the 99% since I have to work a job while you all live the life of luxury and cruise the boards all day long! I shall do it tonight (the other "it" I did last night) after a free tequila & beer tasting by the house. Will try removing tonight. I assume the...

My now servicable non-servicable hub assembly

Forgive my ignorance, but that does not just shift my problem to a different place? I would still need to remove the remainder of the hub assembly off whatever is holding it in place, would I not? Thanks for your patience.

Ivan, on that image, would that not push out both the hub and axle since it is pushing on the joint?

My now servicable non-servicable hub assembly

Sooooo, went to replace the hub assembly. 12 point bolts...no problem. Attach hub puller to hub assembly....no problem. Hub assembly comes apart in two pieces...Houston, we have a problem. Check out the pick. http://www.flickr.com/photos/75256421@N03/6801298231/ So, it looks like the back...

Is this front drive shaft / Cardan Joint salvageable

Thanks. So is this one of those parts you don't gain much by pulling a used one off the salvage yard?

Is this front drive shaft / Cardan Joint salvageable

Got the front drive shaft off my 92 xj and found this. The plastic keeper in the spider geer is broken. Additionally, there is a tit coming from the u the bracket/basket that is broken off on one side. It looks like either two springs or wires were comingout but they are chewed up. Also...

    Stupid Bolts!

Thought I would give you all an update. I could not locate the suggested extraction tools at Lowes last night. Got it out though. Had a 6 sided 5/16 1/4 socket. I ground an extra allen wrench I had laying around so that it just fit in there. Gave me the grip and leverage I needed. Thanks.

    Stupid Bolts!

Yea, tried heating, PB Blaster, small vise grips. Saw a hint about using some paper to make the bolt snug in the wrench again. I might try it with some wet sand paper to get a bit of grip. If I round off the head, can I just pull the drive shaft out and work on it on the bench or is the top...

    Stupid Bolts!

92 XJ. Removing the front drive shaft to replace the u-joints and one bolt (rear cardan joint) got rounded. Realized too late that I had grabbed an 8mm. Couple-o-questions. Don't they make a wrench with more grabbing points than a standard wrench? If that does not work, can anyone tell me...
