Did the fuel pump on an 05 Wrangler by dropping it not too long ago....and around the same time I did the pump on a 2002 E46 bmw...a hell of a lot easier through the access panel under the seat in the BMW.
In searching, I see that Bosch is recommended...I've used them for years in other vehicles and agree.
The 1999 4.0 is having a 'slow start' issue (my daughter says priming it a couple of times seems to fix the issue), so I'm guessing (I'll work it up more) it's likely the check valve.
I...
Thanks for the replies..just got home from work and it started fine after putting 5 gal gas in (before trying anything). I'll check the other stuff...Alternator and battery are strong.
Should have added:
The Crank sensor went in 2 or 3 weeks ago (along with a new battery). Put the new tune-up parts in on Sunday PM (and Sunday evening changed the wires around). Monday it drove perfectly fine...yesterday was the crank/no start issue.
1999 Sport 4.0, Auto trans.
New Crank Position Sensor (Mopar).
New Plugs/wires/distributor cap/rotor/coil.
Made the mistake of setting TDC to the exhaust stroke on cyl #1 when I pulled the distributor to drill out the broken cap screw. So I did get a crank/no start from that. On the advice...
Fixed...someone suggested I was 180 degrees off...distributor matched to the exhaust stroke.
Suggested I swap the plug wires across from each other..1 for 6, etc....worked fine when I did that.
Could use some suggestions on what to check:
This is a project car (younger daughter's driver). Since there's not much history (at 169k miles), I'm checking/changing things as I go. She's been driving it lately with no major issues.
When we got it, the battery was completely dead, so I...
Changed the fluid in the 99 sport tonight (and the filter) Solenoids test fine....Dex/Merc.
Changed the fluid a week ago...roughly 4 qts each time...brown the first time, less the second.
Daughter went for a test drive, said it seems improved but still happening..
(will know better tomorrow...
I'm still (slowly, as work and the temps permit) working on the 1999 sport in my other thread. Did get the build sheet for it (so I thought I'd post it):
M5 Prem Cloth Hi-Back Bucket Seats -AZ Agate
ADAP Light Group
APAS Monotone Paint
ARWP Sport Decor Group...
Thanks for the info...Shouldn't be too hard to repaint one. I assume that the ones (97 and up?) with the Torx bolts holding the door to the hinge will work?
Thanks for the Gates suggestion. From looking at a few things, looks like I should probably replace the tube instead of screwing with it (corroded?).
More to do...weather permitting (no room in the garage).
Slight update...
Started fine over the last 2 days with the borrowed battery. I'm guessing the computer is very voltage sensitive.
Daughter got emissions and inspection done this evening...threw an O2 sensor code...she cleared it, drove 50 miles, then went in for the inspection (I'll swap an...
Slight update...my daughter took the car to get inspected yesterday. The battery barely started the car after being on the trickle charger overnight...(she started it an hour before she was leaving to check all the lights, etc.). Then it wouldn't start it later on.
So, she pulled the...
