I have a 88XJ as well. and have had the same prob. could never figure it out. I took it to a shop and he said the motor had a air pocket in it . ( this is what he says anyway) kind of wierd. another new therostat and got the air pocket out. worked fine since. good luck...

I just replaced my BA10 with a AX15 from (man-trans.com)1-877-man-tran. talk to bobby.good prices. And well worth it. I got a new trany and transfer case for $1700.00, a new BA10 was $1995.00 just for the trany. Good Luck

Take your CAT off and poke all the stuff out of it put it back on. Had mine hollowed out for 5 yrs still passess. If you put it back on they'll never no its hollow. same gas milage but sounds better.
