i second this ...if its overheating at idle it is air pocket in cooling system...
I suggest u get a cooling system burping funnel connect to radiator and fill about half full...run engine at about 2000 rpm with heat on for a few mins then idle then repeat..make sure thermostat opens then remove...
only thing worse than that ankle is casts to knees on both sides stairs really suck...i spent 4 mos that way...not xj related... Lets just say it involved a beat down and a 2 story window...got really good with freestyle wheel chair riding though...lol

I looked at my disaster of a garage. (Gonna clean and build benches soon.)
Went to my buddy's shop and replaced Left axle u-joint on my 94.
Had dreams of what is to come on my 96.
May install fresh NP231 in my 94 today depending on how garage goes.

If your gonna go the 5.3 route why not look into 6.0? Am I missing something, aren't they dimensionally the same on the outside of the engine?:greensmok
Wow:gee: ... I bet that made some serious vibrations even before it broke. The angle of the dangle is way to much even with just an eyeball. I'd kinda like to see the angles on an angle finder. You definitely need a SYE with your new install.
Definitely sounds like the steering wheel got turned through the install process..clockspring is done...pull steering wheel and its right there..Next time make sure steering wheel is secured so that it cant move while disconnected... I like to make sure the wheel is locked with column.
