My first thought was aftermarket cruise control due to the specific wire that was spliced, but the cruise control systems use vacuum lines and an existing wiring connector over on the passenger side.
I was cleaning up the engine compartment of my 2000 XJ (4.0L Auto) and noticed the previous owner had done some modifications to the middle wiring harness connected to the PCM. It appears they had spliced a wire into the Vehicle Speed Sensor Signal wire (white with orange stripe). Any ideas why...
That definitely seems reasonable; that rounded rectangular area in the dash was just throwing me off.
I'll keep the pic size in mind. I was doing this all on my phone, which does a good job of hiding the fact that the pictures are huge.
I did a bit of googling, and it appears that routed rectangular area is standard, but the PO likely drilled holes in it. Any ideas what the purpose of that rectangle is or what options could have been installed there?
