These headers will require some heating & hammering to flatten out 2 spors to clear the steering shaft. And you must modify the steering intermediate shaft and go with a custom 2 piece 3/4" DD steering shaft with a 3/4" heim to brace it. Kinda like a hot rod set up. Will cost around $70.
Hey guys, just wanted to share some info. I'm swapping a 5.3L into my 1988 Comanche buggy. And with the Novak mounts it makes life easy (but expensive)... To save some money you can find stainless headers on Ebay that will work. But it's often risky and hard to figure out which ones will fit...
I'm installing a 5.3L Vortec out of a 2000 Silverado. I have the Novak motor mounts, but wondering what header? Im not spending $400-500 on Novak headers. Does anyone have a part number or model of header that will get me close?
Nice work. You really like that yellow! Man, throw some hammered finish paint in there, in like a gunmetal gray or another accent color. All black & yellow is gonna look like a giant bumblebee haha
Follow the directions dude. Its walks you thru step by step. I got one from JB, but they're all the same. Download the PDF file and print out the instructions at home. Follow then exact. Use common sense, it'll be fine.
Make sure you don't overtighten case bolts... Its just aluminum. Use good...
Any engine swap, that is a modern engine is gonna be a huge pain in the ass. Even the some of the best wrench turners can do that kind of stuff. Its scary, complicated and a shitload of knowledge is necessary. I'm I'm the same boat as you.
I have a MJ buggy, but the guy who owner it before me...
I have an 88 MJ truggy, that I'm planning to gut completely and do a gen1 350 swap with a 700R4 and Dana 300. Been crunching numbers, and this is the simplest & most cost effective way to go... Run the 350 on propane. Done. I thought about the Vortec route, but I'm not up for the whole wiring...
