    Next upgrade?

So – good insight and questions here. Most of this is all just food for thought anyway and the exact order I do these things really won’t make much difference. Probably some of it will come down to when/where I find a good deal on various pieces of good, used equipment. Looks like I am getting...

    Next upgrade?

Lots of good ideas and thoughts here - thanks! Seems like none stand out as the obvious next step. I already have nice formed rubber floor liners and don’t have any dents so I don't need to worry about those. Also, I forgot to add fog lights as a possibility. For driving in snowstorms rather...

    Next upgrade?

like to keep my '99 XJ in well-maintained condition, and add upgrades now and then, like most of us do. At the moment I have maybe $200-ish do 'the next thing'. Right now I am pretty close to stock but have added a 2 inch lift, front tow hooks, stock skid plates, and a tow hitch. I carry...

    Lift

When I was researching lifts I was looking for that information as well. Here are the things I found that I had to think about. Hopefully it will help you. In my mind, the answer really becomes a spectrum of possibilities and all answers probably should start with these words instead: “It...

What would YOU like to see us do as a Chapter?

BnB: Sorry about that. I should have double-checked. OldMan - Thanks for pointing that out. Unfortunately I am already tied up for this weekend.

What would YOU like to see us do as a Chapter?

Here is my long-winded perspective as a new participant to the NAXJA forum and XJs in general. I don’t know much or any of the history of the group so take my opinion for what it is worth. I haven’t yet met any of you except online - Cottontail, Diesel XJ, and Hypoid have been more than helpful...

RE 2 inch lift kit question

I was able to complete the lift install yesterday – insert smiley face here! I have driven it for maybe 15 miles so far and it feels really good. Some people complain about the ride quality on an AAL, but I just don’t see it. To me it feels great. I guess I have maybe 13 hours into it, working...

RE 2 inch lift kit question

Thanks for the reply - but I may have been confusing in how I wrote the question. The sway bar is what is no longer lined up to its links. I did not disconnect the track bar. I only mentioned the track bar because I assumed that was the "correct' way to resolve the sway bar not lining up.

RE 2 inch lift kit question

So things are going slower than planned - everything is going together easily enough but I just don't have enough hours to get it done fast. Too many other "have-to's" on my plate. In case anyone is interested so far I have about 10-11 hours in, working entirely by myself. I tend to go slow and...

Father/Son project - 2000 XJ Buildup as first car.

Nice! Looking forward to the build-up. I know the time I have spent with my sons building their cars ('66 Olds F-85, '68 Plymouth Sport Fury) is time well spent, for sure.

RE 2 inch lift kit question

Progress update: Still waiting for my bumpstops to arrive but they should be in today. I mostly completed the back end this weekend. Just need to bleed the brakes and do the final on-the-ground torqueing. So far no problems at all - my XJ is pretty clean as far as rust is concerned so didn't...

RE 2 inch lift kit question

God news -my lift arrived today! But now I have bad news too - I started spraying the U-bolts, shock bolts, etc down earlier this week and today when doing so, noticed that my right front bumpstop has fallen apart. The rubber part is just laying there at the bottom, inside the coil. So...

RE 2 inch lift kit question

Well, I went ahed and ordered the RE lift. Should arrive in a few days so I will report back on the install in a week or two.

RE 2 inch lift kit question

Thanks for the advice. On the front, did you use coil spring compressors and still wanted the extra space made by unbolting things, or did you not use compressors at all and that is why you recommend unbolting things?

RE 2 inch lift kit question

Exactly the kind of info I was looking for Diesel. Thanks. That is what I was worried about also. Since you just did yours (per the other thread) and it went well, I am feelng better about trying it.
