The more I think about it, I probably need to just replace that pulley. It was the water pump pulley, but can't find it online. Anyone happen to know where to get one or a part number for it? Thank you
Thanks for the quick replies. It has a brand new gatorback belt, I bought a Dayco from Advance, thought it might be the belt causing it, so I bought a Goodyear.
I then thought it might be some surface rust on the water pump pulley. I just did an engine swap so there was some minor surface...
I have a 2000 Cherokee with the 4.0. Have a brand new battery. First thing in the morning, the car will turn over slowly, but still starts every time. When it starts the belt will squeak. It does it when it is warmed up but not very bad. It also turns over a little faster.
So to my...
My friend has a 1999 XJ with the 4.0, and when she came back today her battery was dead. I went to help her jump it off and heard the fan running. The car wasn't on, and the keys weren't in it. The fan was running constantly all day which killed the battery. I jumped her off and went to start it...
I have a 1992 Jeep Cherokee that has had a rough idle at times. Also recently I would be lightly on the throttle and the engine would cut out and the surge ahead. This would mainly happen at 1000-1500 RPM's. Any ideas? Thanks
I am desperately trying to find out why my jeep won't start as I need it to really bad. It is a 96 cherokee 4.0. I am getting power at the fuse box to the ASD (automatic shutdown relay) but no power to the coil. I thought the coil got its power from the ASD relay. Any ideas what could cause this...
I have checked for spark at the spark plug, and pulled the center wire from the distributor and checked it there. ( one side of wire connected to coil, the other connected to the spark teseter.
First off, thanks to everyone who has helped me this far in finding out why my recently purchases 96 cherokee 4.0 will not start. The coil is not giving out a spark, but I changed it out with a new coil and same deal. Also changed out the CPS no spark. What do I check next? Anything else I can...
I already did a compression test and realized I had low compression on cylinder number 2. I really don't care if it causes anymore damage to the engine as I have a junk yard engine waiting if I need it. I just want to get spark and get it cranking. Thanks
I am really not sure the exact story, I bought it from a guy who bought it from the county, so he just told me it overheated.
The Jeep is not getting any spark. I drained the fuel, it didn't start, checked for spark and none. I changed the CPS and coil and still no go. Any ideas? Thanks
Thanks, I will give it a shot tomorrow, I am also going to check the compression in each cylinder. Do you see any reason why it would not start from overheating? I mean it turns over great, just want even sputter or anything, just turns over. Thanks
Do you mean actually put some gas in each cylinder? Or just new gas in the tank. I siphoned all the old gas out, but I am not sure what to do about the gas in the lines. Thanks
