    1990 XJ Diesel Swap??

Does anyone know of or heard of someone doing a diesel swap into their XJ? I've got a line on a really cheap 1990 with a blown motor and I was wondering if it can be done with relative ease. Any and all info is welcome and appreciated. Thanks

    4.0 l engine not running

I am having the EXACT same problem buddy. -new plugs -timing setup according to the manual (lining up the timing marks on the bottom wheel will tell you exactly where top dead centre is for cylinder one and thus, where you spark plug wires go on the dizzy) -new cps -new MAT sensor -new...

Ecomike, I've tried everything you mentioned except a compression test. The car is sitting in my driveway so I don't think I have any way of doing a compression test unless there is some home-remedy type of deal to test it. Another question, even if the oil doesn't smell like gas, should I...

UPDATE: STILL WON'T START!! So as of today I have replaced the following: spark plugs CPS Engine coolant temp sensor thermostat Still no change. Cranks endlessly, but will not start. After I replaced everything listed above the only fault codes that were displayed were 12 and 55, which as...

fuel pump and everything works. just replaced the engine coolant temp sensor yesterday. still no start. like i said earlier, there's fuel pressure all the way up to the fuel rail. i'm gonna replace the plugs today because they're old and even though they're sparking, they may not be sparking...

That's the most concerning part is if they're not related. I'm trying not to just throw parts at it, but aside from the coolant temp sensor, there's no logical progression to give any idea as to what might fix it. I mean it started a couple of days after overheating, and now it doesn't start at...

I'm just trying to think what most likely got messed up after a severe overheating. NO the oil and coolant did not mix

Thanks Blaine. He did bring up a valid point though even though my XJ can't start. I think I read somewhere that the coolant temp sensor will cause the a/f mix to change depending on engine temp. So if, in fact, I did fry the sensor and it's consistently sending the wrong "HOT" signal, then the...

Also, is it abnormal for the temp. guage to max out while the engine cranks? I don't recall it doing this before the overheat.

already pulled the computer off, connections looked fine. still doesn't start. does it matter that that breather tube off the top of the head is missing the connection to the airbox? The little piece connecting it to the airbox was rotten so I removed it awhile ago. Didn't affect it then, don't...

    Starting Problems

Well I'm not sure if I'm correct with this one, but even if the computer were fried, I think the engine would still crank (I'm basing this off the fact that I had my computer on my 92 unplugged and it still cranked).

    Can't get to ther cps

just did this the other day. I required like 3 extensions. Ended up using a 1/4" 11mil socket. Don't try and do it from the top unless you have the worlds' skinniest arms. Do it from the bottom. You just have to squeeze between the shift linkage and other shit. Good luck.
