Does anyone know of or heard of someone doing a diesel swap into their XJ? I've got a line on a really cheap 1990 with a blown motor and I was wondering if it can be done with relative ease. Any and all info is welcome and appreciated. Thanks

I've got a 92XJ Limited 4.0L HO, I've replaced the CPS, thermostat, MAT sensor, plugs. still doesn't start. how do I adjust the timing on an XJ? and how do I do a compression test by removing the spark plugs? Thanks in advance?

how do you adjust the timing on XJ's? The plug wire are a possiblity but how do I figure out (in the event they are on wrong) which ones go where?

That's the most concerning part is if they're not related. I'm trying not to just throw parts at it, but aside from the coolant temp sensor, there's no logical progression to give any idea as to what might fix it. I mean it started a couple of days after overheating, and now it doesn't start at...

Thanks Blaine. He did bring up a valid point though even though my XJ can't start. I think I read somewhere that the coolant temp sensor will cause the a/f mix to change depending on engine temp. So if, in fact, I did fry the sensor and it's consistently sending the wrong "HOT" signal, then the...

Also, is it abnormal for the temp. guage to max out while the engine cranks? I don't recall it doing this before the overheat.

Well I'm not sure if I'm correct with this one, but even if the computer were fried, I think the engine would still crank (I'm basing this off the fact that I had my computer on my 92 unplugged and it still cranked).

just did this the other day. I required like 3 extensions. Ended up using a 1/4" 11mil socket. Don't try and do it from the top unless you have the worlds' skinniest arms. Do it from the bottom. You just have to squeeze between the shift linkage and other shit. Good luck.
