    window question

Someone shot my front driver's side window (the roll up, not the vent) out with a BB gun, and I need a new one. I have someone offering me a window out of a 1997 Cherokee (I have a 1989) and was wondering if it would fit... any ideas? Thanks in advance...

Actually, it really was very helpful. Thank you for taking your time and typing that, it is much appreciated!! That's the old Naxja I remember! :D

Yeah, no style points. That's for sure. Just needed some functionality. Sorry for letting everyone down with the "Building Custom Dash" title. Didn't know what else to call something like this. Although not amazing craftsmanship, it's definitely still custom, and definitely still a dash...

"interesting" haha, thanks for putting it nicely. lol. we'll see how it holds up offroad... that'll be the real test.

Hahaha, that would be interesting to say the least. Two eye bolts are screwed into the back and two eye bolts are screwed into the firewall. Two small chains attach the eye bolts and are tensioned enough to keep the dash from boucing. Well, we can't afford a new fuel gauge, battery gauge...

Well, that's your opinion, and you're entitled to it. I'm sure almost everyone else will agree with you, but, the dash suits me and will serve it's purpose well. Compared to the old POS falling apart plastic dash, this looks a LOT cleaner and smoother. I haven't frequented Naxja in awhile...

Got the main dash piece mounted. There are still quite a few more pieces to cut and mount, but here is the biggest one. We are still waiting on the final gauge to come in so we can cut the hole and mount it. The little red lights are for the AWshifting system we installed on the Jeep. Each...

Thanks, and great point, I'm sure if/when the wood fails, we'll go with something like this. This is definitely not going to be the best fabrication work in the world I can tell you that right now. It's just something that will look decent and hold up to some off road abuse. It's a project...

here are some early pictures of the dash. just after cutting and drilling some of the holes. Still have one more big hole to drill, but the gauge hasn't come in yet, so we aren't positive on what size to drill just yet. I'll keep everyone updated as the progress continues.

Thanks for the offer and advice on fiberglass. I've attempted some fiberglass work on a sub enclosure with a friend. He knew what he was doing, I didn't. He let me try a little bit. That's some tough stuff, I wasn't very successful and he did most of the work.

okay, well we got it all of the holes cut out for the switches, gauges, and LED shift lights. sanded everything, and painted it a textured black. Not a "rhino lining" type of texture, just a little thicker than a flat black. It turned out really nice with a great texture. We looked into...

Well, I split the Jeep with a buddy of mine as a college project Jeep. So he has a say in whatever is done as well. I think he wants to sand it, and paint it flat black. Which is fine with me. I'll look into all other options as well for sure though! Thanks for the suggestions! They are...

Ahh, not out to prove any points or anything. Just wanted to document what I was attempting to do and share it with everyone at the same time. I guess we'll see what happens from here...

I hope it does go down hill really fast... and up hills and around turns and through the mud and through the woods... haha, shows you how much I know about fiberglass!

In order to get a piece of carbon fiber or fiberglass the size we need it will be $200+ easily. We got the dense piece of wood for under $30. If I could afford the fiberglass, I would probably go that route, but unfortunately college is sucking all my money away. haha Thanks man, appreciate...
