AC clutch bearing must be bad...options?

Thanks for the heads up on the bypass pulley. Looks like something that should work and be easy enough. I'll research this and get a plan to get the Jeep back on the road.

AC clutch bearing must be bad...options?

Started the 91 Laredo today for the first time this winter and through all the accessory belt howling and squealing came some smoke. Investingating it was the AC clutch getting hot enough to on turn off, it melted the belt. So I get a new belt and install it. but that won't solve the problem...

Cruise control on 1991 4.0 not working

I had read about the switch being bad and I didn't look much further until a year or so later. The cruise had been intermittent and got worse to non-functioning. When I was finally ready to go into it, I found the wire from the switch had been pinched at the factory in the steering column bolt...

Question About Vents On 2 Door XJs.

My 91 Laredo has tinted vented rears. I don't sit back and don't usually have the rear seat bottom in the ride so they get almost no use. Right now they don't leak.

    Overhead Console Computer

Thanks for this, Todd. I got smoke from my second board the other day and wonder about repairing it. Since I need a few things from Mouser/Digikey, I can add a few things to the order and maybe get the board fixed. Don't recall what I did with the other board I swapped out, maybe it is around...

Rear sway bar frame brackets. Source?

I don't know if the bolts will come out without breaking them. I need to find out that thunk when I load the right side with the bar bouncing off the frame messes with the sound of the smooth six. That is because the radio doesn't work in the cold weather until the heat has been on long enough...

Rear sway bar frame brackets. Source?

Lost a rear sway bar bracket the other day, rusted. 91/4.0 daily driver, not wheeled so maybe I would like to put the bar back on but since it seems the bracket is not a separate item, only direction is the aftermarket bracket kits. Any other options or is this bar coming off? Thanks.

    Radio and Wiper electrical issues

91 Cherokee 4.0 Radio only puts out sound when warm/hot. Does everything it should except make noise through the speakers when cold. Wipers (with intermittent) will sometimes just stop mid-path. I have cleaned the intermittent module connections. Bushings have been replaced so the wipers...

    Steering wheel wobbles side-to-side

Looks like I'm trying to tighten the 4 bolts that hold the tilt to the steering column. Trying to get there. Got the wheel off and tilt arm off, looking for more ways into the unit.

    Steering wheel wobbles side-to-side

Jeep off, key out, and the steering wheel wobbles left to right a good bit. There is less wobble top to bottom. Any way to get the wheel all tightened up again? 91 XJ

    Serpentine belt idler bearing: 6203-2RS

So thanks to NAXJA I found this number while searching. I know I could have bought an idler pulley for 16 and change or shipping or whatever, but my local Fastenal has the 6203-2RS in stock for $2.08 plus tax. The bearing install slowed the job by about 5 minutes, pressing the old bearing out...

    Fixed high temp gauge reading

All the way at the back of the head. Look at the back left (right from the front of the engine compartment) corner of the valve cover. It is just outside that. Mine has a 90 degree bend rubber cover over the connector, a single wire hanging from the harness on the firewall.

    Fixed high temp gauge reading

Try cleaning the electrical connections to the sender. So my 91 had high temp readings during the last two summers. NBD didn't overheat so I drove it. Well the other day 85 degrees out and traffic, it got real hot. Finished the drive and turned for home. Stopped for a quick trip to Costco...
