the body is pretty bad, needs a new front clip, and the interior needs redone.
the 92 has good interior and the bady is is great shape, saving myself a lot of work by simply swaping engines.
Hi everyone, I am about to take the motor out of my 88xj and put into a 92.
After that I'm parting it out to recoup some of my expenses. so here's the skinny:
88 XJ 4.0 Renix 4X4 with dana 35 rearend 4dr.

I have an 88xj 4.0 renix, I just bought a 92xj 4.0 ho. the 92 has a bad engine the 88 engine has 6500 miles since rebuild. I want to put the 4.0 block and head out of the 88 into the 92, reusing the 92 header, intake, and...
Check the CPS, mine was ding the same thing till I replaced it. Also depending on what has been done to it I believe the 88 CPS had the wiring modified due to a recall that required a hole to be drilled in the firewall and wires ran directly to the renix computer.
I have an 88 xj, with a 4.0, and ordered new lines from O'rielly, cost about $26.00, but came with the quick connects. It is one of those Dorman / HELP parts.
I have a 88 XJ with the 4.0, MPI engine. Is the Idle Air Controller located on the throttle body adjustable. The reason I ask is I replaced mine and had trouble with the engine stalling, then I removed it and notived the valve disc could be unscrewed to extend further into the throttle body.
