You are welcome to join the 2012 Snow to Sand 4x4 tour.

Meeting at Big Bear Discovery Center on Saturday, January 21 at 0830 and leaving at 0900.

We will head East over snow covered roads into the National Forest. Eventually driving down over sand covered roads in Rattlesnake Canyon out to Highway 247 located in Johnson Valley.

This will be a high moderate 4x4 venture! Please bring a 4x4 vehicle ready to negotiate over rocky obstacles and traverse thru some nasty canyon routes on the way to the Mojave Desert.

Please dress in layers (with winter clothing), bring extra food, recovery gear, working CB radio, water, camera, binoculars and a good attitude. Be prepared to get stuck in snow, sand or ??

Should be a Great Day!

Happy Holidays!

Ranger Greg.

Thank you to all that attended the Quarterly Adopt-a-Trail meeting in Corona last night!

On Saturday January 20th, the Annual Snow to Sand 4x4 run (Big Bear to Mojave Desert, meeting at 0900 Big Bear Discovery Center) will take place. Last year, we had 71 Volunteers enjoy this run. That was a lot of action!

At that time, we had a record 12 propane gas grills cooking lunches on the 4x4 run (an Adopt-a-Trail record!). This year, we're asking everyone to bring their own gas grills and together, we can BBQ and enjoy hot food while enjoying the forest!

Can we break the 12 individual BBQ grills record?!? Time will give all of us the answer!

Hope to see ya there,

Ranger Greg.

Well, 824 man hours sounds good! Lots of people sayin more advanced notice would help them plan for the trip. Hopefully we can get more than 2 NAXJA next run! Any idea when that is? I have every intention of being more involved.
