New compressor hard to turn by hand

As the title states. I just got a new compressor for my 2001 cherokee but it's pretty much impossible to turn by hand. it does turn smoothly with a socket. My old one easily turns by hand. Is this normal or should I send this one back? Thanks in advance.

It's normal. Make sure you rotate it a few times once it's installed to prevent hydrolock. I've only seen it happen once but it's possible. Especially if you add oil.
