Re: Axle help needed

No, don't waste your money on loaded carriers. Bare cases usually run around $60 each and all the internals will swap right over. If you can afford it, now is the time to go with lockers. Detroits will replace the carrier so you shouldn't need to buy them.
FYI,
you need...
front and rear gearsets
front and rear master install kits
front and rear bare carriers for 3.73 and higher front and 3.92 and higher rear.
thats 6 items. should run you around $550 or something for all your parts.

Re: Axle help needed

well i'm just trying to get the gears installed cause i won't be able to afford lockers for awhile i plan on putting a aussie locker in the rear and a ox in the front but the front will have to wait about another year. I can get empty carriers for 125 shiped so i can swap out the spider gears from my front but i don't think i can with the 44 cause its limited slip

And i already have the gears and install kits http://www.jeepinoutfitters.com/scri...?idproduct=998

Re: Axle help needed

then whats better on the rear 44 is not to get a new carrier but rather get a thick gearset. it allows you to run the 3.73/down carrier break with 3.92/up gears. Thick gearsets should only cost maybe $20 more. Its a much cheaper option on the 44.
that front bare case for the D30 shouldn't run you more that maybe $60 plus shipping from a good vendor.

Re: Axle help needed

they are both loaded carriers and that is wasted money.
http://www.drivetrainspecialists.com...oduct-308.html
you want bare so that you can swap parts.
at the $$$ you would spend on the loaded carriers you can pick up bare carriers and a lockright almost.

Re: Axle help needed

ok so i'll get a loaded carrier for the dana 44 and the bare carrier for the dana 30 i know i'd almost have enough to get the locker but i won't have enough to get it in time and i need to get these gears in so a little extra money in the long run don't bother me just as long as i can get it moving now
