Will TJ front axle shafts fit into an XJ axle ?

My 86/92 XJ's tired front dana 30 axle needs to be rebuilt. I have a 99 TJ front dana 30 axle from a wrecked parts jeep that I bought. The axle housing was damaged in the wreck but the internals all look good. So does anyone know if I can take the axle shafts, brake parts and knuckles off the 99 axle and put them onto an 86 axle ?

86/92 mixed up XJ (sheet metal and axles are 86, rest is 92)

yep. you have two choices here:

swap ONLY the axleshafts

or

swap EVERYTHING except the housing and gearset

any other combination will not work well

if you have a HP 30 itll be sweet with those 297x u joints

Thanks, that is just what I needed to know. I was hoping that I could do it since the TJ axle only has 19K miles on it. Now if I could find someone who needs the 3.73 gears and antilock brake stuff from the axle.
