Spark Plug Wires?

This may be a semi-dumb question but how important are spark plug wires on XJs? Ive got a 4.0 and a couple of the terminals on the sides that go onto the cap are corroding. The Cherokee still starts fine its just Im wondering if the corrosion is affecting anything?

Corrosion reduces conductivity. The auto parts stores sell small brass brushes for cleaning the sockets in distributor caps. You can use the same brush to clean the ends of the spark plug wires.

If your wires are the originals, it's time to get new ones.

Ok, well I was leaning towards buying new ones anyway. My wires still say "Mopar Supression" so Im thinking they were oem. Thanks a lot.
