Evaporator Core problem

I have a 1995 I-6 4WD 2dr that I recently had to replace the heater core on. While doing so I went to replace the evap core as well but all of the aftermarket stores are providing me with one that is close as far as fitment but they don't have the hole in back for the thermostat probe. Can I mount the probe next to it or do I have to have an evap core with the hole? Any help would be greatly appreciated I have had the XJ apart for 2 weeks due to wrong parts arriving.

sorry i cant help with your question, but i am also facing the same job, my evaporator is leaking.

how much of a job was it to get out??
