Trailer wiring harness question

Does anyone know if a trailer taillight converter (u haul brand) from a pre '97 will work on a 2000? I need to wire my 2000 for trailer lights and don't want to spend $30 on the no splice/plug-in harness. I found a u haul converter in the junk yard on a pre 97 that i can probably get for a few $ but not sure if it will work.... TIA blaise :us:

A quick search of the Hoppy website (this is the one I have)...shows different part #'s for 91-96 & 97-up.

So...probably not.

And the pre-91s were different again.

Update: Took the u haul brand trailer taillight converter box off the junk yard '93 and installed it in the 2000 XJ. Works fine. Saved 20 bucks....sweet! blaise :us:

Did it plug right in?...or did you have to splice the wires?

splice...(n)
I'll bet in '93 they didn't have "no splice" harnesses.
