I have a 1991 with the 4.0, and I threw a rod the other night. I found a 1998 4.0 motor with 78k for $350. Will this fit. I have heard it will but just wanted to check with some of you guys first. What all do I need to swap onto my new motor to get it to fit. Hopefully getting the motor tommorow.
Thanks
Ben

it will not work. I own a 91 with the 4.0 ho. It is a stand alone year for a direct swap in. 92-93 can be made to work with some machine work to the back of the crank. I put a factory reman in mine. longblock assembly was around $2k. Might work if you can get the flex plate and torque convertor from the 98 as that is the major differences. Check the Hollander exchange with a good yard.
