NAXJA Forum User
Just noticed the other day after driving , which is very limited in my 92XJ I6 HO , due to electrical problems which I have narrowed down to the NSS , that I smell raw gas being emitted from the rear of the vehicle ?? I have already replaced the gas cap ?? NEXT ???

Check the area around the fuel filter. There is a rubber line from the tank to the filter. And another short rubber hose to the fuel line.
Even the filter may rust thru.

If it isn't in a fuel or vent line, you should take a very close look at the tank itself - look for wet areas. If you are in the rust belt it wouldn't be surprising if the tank is rusting out. Many leaks won't show unless the tank is full, especially if the hole is in the top, where sand and mud collect, so it could be hard to spot.
