Just split my first transfer case from a transmission yesterday. *pats self on back* plan to rebuild and install in mine because there's a cat living in mine that hollers loudly at speeds under twenty. None of the local parts stores can get me anything. Where do y'all get the particulars? Bearings and seals should be easy once I have them out and take the numbers to the bearing shop, but chains and such?

i got a rebuild kit from timken. came with all the bearings and seals. you can search on here for the part number of the kit. some of the other little parts i got from morris 4x4 online. they have everything. and i got my chain off ebay. for that, either get a cloyes brand or borg-warner.

You can check out Monster Transmission. Just be sure to check & double check that you get the right kit for your year T-case.

you're probably going to have to hit the junkyard to get a new tailcone. forget to take the snap ring off that holds the bearing in place? that's what I did :gee:

grimmjeeper, nope, im 17 and when i first turned 16 i was trying to be a badass with some friends the second day i had my license, racing my other friend. he has a 2005 infiniti g35 and i thought itd be cool to do a neutral drop at 5000rpm. wasnt to cool when my driveshaft destroyed the u joint and the tabs on my axle yoke. year later im doing a full rebuild on the jeep and pulled the t-case out and it was covered in trans fluid so i pressure washed it and found a crack all the way around the tail cone and theres a crack around one of the bolts of the rear extension and a chunk missing out of the tip...ive learned since then.
