i own a 2001 cherokee with 4.0. i am driving along and hear a super loud high pitched whining sound after the engine temperature reaches about 190 degrees, give or take 10 degrees. sometimes it only occurs when i take foot off the gas and goes away when i step on gas, other times it only gets quieter when i step on gas. THIS IS NOT A LOOSE BELT! i know that for a fact. it sounds like it is a vacuum hose leak, but i have no idea where to look. if i pull over and open hood to try to find where it is coming from... it goes away. put the hood down to continue driving. and it comes back. If you have any info, please post and help me out because not only is this annoying, it is also embarrassing when i drive past people and my truck is crying like a little baby. :hang: i don't know if this could be connected to this problem, but i also have a problem with my transfer case. i am stuck in 4wd all the time. i had a friend suggest that my vacuum actuator on my T-case could be dysfunctional. (vacuum hose leak...vacuum actuator... same problem??? idk) any help is appreciated. if i didnt explain something well or if you have another question, just let me know. thanks for even taking the time to read
