88 xj fuel pump problem!

Ok so my 88 4.0 xj (renix) just died on the trail, no power to fuel pump, the bassist resistor(white thing on driver inner fender) was very hot so we bypassed the resistor and hot wiring the fuel pump and it ran fine and I got it home.

Now I replaced the bassist resistor checked all relays and fuses, fuel pump still will not run unless hot wired.

Anyone know if there is a fusable link on the fuel pump, and where it is at or any other failure point in the wiring?

Thanks
Dustin

i dont think the ballast resistor does nothing but quiet the pump down. If it runs better with it bypassed, then i personally dont think there would be a problem.

make sure the insides of the resiston didn't break when you bolted it back up-- take a multi-meter and verify continuity across the two terminals.
