The Black Pearl

yeah phil is right. Load up all your gear and see how it will work out, and then build the tube out accordingly.

Still grinding to make at least some portion of sierrafest for my first time. Got the passenger side front frame stiffeners on. Made a few modifications along the way of course but I’m pretty confident it’s glued on there good.

Have you had any issues welding outside? If I have 2 doors open in my garage any small breeze will blow away the shielding gas and give me garbage welds

That seems to be hit or miss although I've been having good luck lately.
I run between 20-25cfm if there's a breeze out and sparingly dip the tip in soldering flux. Welding directly upside down seems to be when I get into trouble.

Took a sunday to trim up the front bumper to clear the 37s. Also got tabs welded on for limit straps and got straps ordered. She’s getting close

That's a great question. I was rubbing the pinch seam behind the tires in the front fender well. I'm hoping the added bump stops will address the areas where I was previously rubbing. I've seen some pretty slick inner fenders that I may try and copy one day. That would involve moving the battery and air intake though.

These are tnt inner fenders. I have 3.5 inch cloak coils and 35s. With the normal daystar extended bumps plus 1 hockey puck it gets within a half inch of these inner fenders... unless your width somehow helps I think you'll have issues lol

I like it.

Limit straps showed up today, threw them on right away. I’m think I’ll bump stop the rear, add a bit more + caster and take her down to Hollister to see what’s what.

If they’re good enough for rock bouncers, they’re good enough for this pile. 20” set, should stretch between 1-1.5” in time. Should let the front shocks extend to within a half inch of their extended length.

As far as I can tell I was able to dial in 8 degrees of caster on the rig today, took it down the highway and man, its so much more manageable. I drove back streets with the hubs locked and no driveline vibes felt. Going to try and cut out after work and meet my buddy in Dixon on my way up to prairie city. If you're in the area and/or wanna hang out I'll be at Prairie city this Saturday. Morning till early afternoon.

Bring a few cold snacks to celebrate the pearl's first time in the dirt in almost a year.
