Coolant leak from the rear of the engine

I'm assuming the worst but thought I'd put it out there. 1997 XJ, 4.0, AW4. Coolant is dripping off the bottom of the transmission bellhousing. I've checked the heater core connections and there is nothing there. My assumption is cracked head gasket/head/block. Thoughts?

I intend to purchase a mirror on a stick on my way home from work tonight to try and get eyes on it.

I would suspect the rear freeze plug.

There is a rear freeze plug on the block and the head.

That makes me feel a fair bit better. Thanks for the info.

could easily be the freeze plugs on the side of the block too -- Hard to see with the exhaust and intake manifolds in the way
