nuetral saftey switch won't go back on

Ok I took off my nss and cleaned it. It came off easier than expected but now it doesn't want to go all the way back on. it goes about half way then stops. Any suggestions or comments? I need help
 
ok nevermind I got it back on. After about an hour of messing with it, it just slipped right on. But it still won't start. time to try something else
