They moved the alternator up

Was looking at a 2003 TJ in the shop, interesting that Jeep moved the alternator from down below to where the AC compressor used to be, now the AC compressor is on the bottom...less prone to mud damage I guess. Nice to know that the brackets for them are available.

Was it a 4.0l or the "new" 2.4l dohc 4 cylinder? The reason I put new in quotes is because Chrysler has been using that engine for years in their Neons, Pt Cruisers, etc.

4.0L, we have two TJ's with 2.5L, one with air and one without, both those the alt is down in the weeds as is my 98XJ's. Never seen one with a 2.4 neon engine.

Yeah, 2003 was the first year they put that motor in it. It does have an extra 20 hp or so and about the same increase in torque.
