They must be pretty durable, mine are still good after 21 years! Underneath my carpet is like brand new.

mine is nice, cept where the prior owners foot rest when on the accelerator, shoe wore a hole thru the carpet on the tunnel. 300k miles of use.

I always thought the carpet in my '00 was in decent shape.
Until I removed the console to install the factory heated/power seats I added.
Then I saw the carpet under the console that was pristine.
Now I don't really think that anymore. LOL.

Just wait until you pull the carpet and find the rust. :{
